Anatomy Connected is the premier annual meeting of the American Association for Anatomy (AAA). After decades of partnership with Experimental Biology, it has evolved into a dynamic, stand-alone event designed to unite educators, researchers, and students in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Key AACBNC Co-Sponsored Sessions

The Association of Anatomy, Cell Biology and Neurobiology Chairpersons (AACBNC) is hosting two high-impact sessions at the 2026 event that bridge professional advancement with cutting-edge science:

​

1. Professional Development for Academic Careers

  • Focus: Navigating the transition from student to tenured faculty.

  • Key Topics: Strategies for becoming a top-tier graduate student, essential characteristics of successful faculty candidates, and tips for surviving and thriving during the junior faculty years.

  • Leadership: Chaired by Kirk McHugh and James Cray (The Ohio State University).

2. Repeat Expansion Disorders: Mechanisms & Therapeutics

  • Focus: Exploring the molecular landscape of neurodegenerative diseases.

  • Key Topics: The impact of mutant proteins on neural circuits (SCA1), RNA multivalency in myotonic dystrophy, and the molecular effects of antisense oligonucleotide therapy in ALS.

  • Leadership: Chaired by Gary Bassell (Emory University).
